Vadym Kholodenko
Liszt
Three Concert Études, S144
Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 29, Op. 106 in B-flat major, ‘Hammerklavier’

Our new season opens with the winner of the 2013 Van Cliburn competition, who was described as being “in the elite of classical pianists”. Vadym brings a programme of outstanding works by composers at the peak of their powers, beginning with Liszt’s characterful studies, poetic, expressive and breathtaking, embodying the composer’s lyrical style. The main part of the recital features Beethoven’s gargantuan ‘Hammerklavier’ Sonata. Great in emotional range, technical difficulty and length, it is a grand fantasy of artistic perfection, ending in a great fugue of Olympian scale.

Our Sunday Piano Series performances are informal and introduced from the stage, and you can chat with the pianists in the bar after the concert and still have time to get back home for Sunday Lunch!
