Olga Zado           piano
Maxim Kolomiiets Bird of the Blue Night
Chopin  Nocturne Op. 15, No. 2
Schubert Sonata in B-flat major, D. 960

Described as being a “magician on the piano”, Ukrainian pianist and former child prodigy, Olga, explores the depths of emotion and of expressing the unspeakable through sound. She begins with a piece written for her by compatriot Maxim Kolomiiets, which he said aims to build bridges between worlds and times. Chopin’s second Op. 15 Nocturne is refined and tranquil with a heavenly opening and is full of blissful colour. Schubert’s great B-flat Sonata, published after his death at 31, is an extraordinary and expansive masterpiece, combining ideas and technique at a genius level, and closing with brilliant, breathtaking finality.

Our Sunday Piano Series performances are informal and introduced from the stage, and you can chat with the pianists in the bar after the concert and still have time to get back home for Sunday Lunch!
