The Drivetime Choir

It’s not every day you get the chance to sing in a spectacular Concert Hall backed by an 80-piece orchestra, but that’s what you’ll be doing when you join the Drivetime Choir and sing during our Drivetime Concert when the world renowned Hallé Orchestra takes to the stage with an hour of spectacular music. With hundreds of singers taking part, you’ll make a breathtaking sound!

The Drivetime Choir is open to all, from beginners to seasoned singers, and you’ll receive expert coaching from Angela Kay MBE, former Director of Music for Everyone. Her rehearsal sessions are always informal and fun and you’ll be amazed how far you take your singing in just a couple of hours.

The theme for this year’s Drivetime Concert is World Cup Fever, and you’ll be singing Handel’s Zadok the Priest (which was adopted as the Champions League them), and John Rutter’s barnstorming arrangement of the American Spiritual, Down by the Riverside. When you sign-up, you’ll be sent copies of the scores, and links to resources to help you prepare.

Rehearsals will be on Tuesday 2nd and Thursday 11th June at the Royal Concert Hall from 7-9pm. There will be a short dress rehearsal with the Hallé on the concert day from 5.15pm. You don’t have to attend all of these rehearsals, but it would be very useful if you can.
