Relaxed Performances provide an opportunity for customers who may find it difficult to come and see a show to experience the joy of live theatre.

It is still the same show but with some small changes to the sound levels, lighting and no pyrotechnics or strobe lighting is used. These performances will provide a less formal, more supportive atmosphere in order to reduce anxiety levels.

Comments from our past Relaxed Performances;

'On behalf of my son and I, we would both like to say thank you! - we had a fantastic time! The curse is now broken thanks to you - he loves the Theatre Royal and is already asking what we can go and see next!'

'Thank you to the Theatre Royal team for the help and support to allow our residents to attend the Aladdin performance.  For most of our residents this was the first time they had visited a theatre.  The staff and support at the theatre made our visit very accommodating'

'Thank you, you made my son who is autistic very happy.  I have never seen him laugh so much.  It was lovely to see him so happy'

'Came to the Relaxed Performance this evening and it was brilliant! I hope the evening will be back next year as I will definitely buy tickets.  My little girl loved it'

The auditorium doors will be left open and customers, if they wish, are allowed to move around during the performance. The Dress Circle Foyer will be made into a quiet space for the duration of the show, whereby if customers need to leave the auditorium for any reason they can go to this space and relax before deciding whether to go back in for the rest of the show.

For these performances there will also be an increased number of wheelchair spaces available. These will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please note these performances will also be BSL signed.

A Visual Story to accompany the show will be available to download closer to the performance date.
