Friday afternoons 2pm to 5pm from 25April - 11July (no sessions on 9th or 30th May)
John Carroll Suite of the Royal Concert Hall

This course will give you the experience of writing, performing and staging a comedy sketch show for a live audience. The show takes place in front of an invited audience on the last session of the course.

We will analyse the structure and dynamic of the classic comedy sketch and look at a range of comic devices used in comedy sketches. We will watch and listen to classic sketches from TV and radio. We will investigate how comedy sketches work, undertake games and exercises in class to stimulate ideas and then create our own comedy sketches. You will also develop an awareness of the particular demands of writing for the stage and a live audience. At the end of the course you will have the skills to write and perform a professionally structured and presented comedy sketch.
